User Types

Workspace Owner

The person who created the workspace. There is exactly one owner per workspace. They have full access to every project, all workspace settings, and billing. Ownership cannot be transferred.

Workspace Admin

A trusted team member with the same access as the Workspace Owner across all projects, minus billing. Workspace Admins count toward your seat limit. Use this role for colleagues who need broad oversight of your workspace.

Project Member

A Hummify user invited to a specific project. They can upload, download, manage, view, and comment on assets within that project, but cannot access other projects in your workspace unless invited. Counts toward your seat limit.

Project Guest

A Hummify user with read-only access to a specific project. Project Guests can view and comment on assets but cannot upload, download or manage them. Does not count toward your seat limit, making it a great option for collaborators who only need visibility.

External Client

Anyone accessing Hummify via a share link, without a Hummify account. Does not require an account or count toward any seat limit. Their exact permissions depend on how the share was configured by the user who created it.

Usage Examples

Solo Freelancer

You work independently across multiple client projects and share deliverables for feedback.

  • You are the Workspace Owner: You manage everything.
  • Collaborators (e.g. other editors, session musicians, or engineers) are Project Members: invited only to the projects they're involved in, keeping each project's team separate.
  • Clients who need to follow progress throughout the project are Project Guests: they have persistent access to review and comment as work evolves.
  • One-off reviewers are External Clients: they only see what's in the specific share links you send them, with no account required.
  • As projects wrap up, you can deactivate members from your account settings to free up seats for new work.

Example

You're editing three podcasts simultaneously. Each has its own project with a different set of collaborators. Clients leave feedback as Project Guests; a freelance sound designer joins one project as a Project Member.

Recommended plan: PRO

Up to 5 seats, unlimited projects, 100 GB storage, and share permissions so you control exactly what clients can do with each link.

Small Team (e.g. a music production company)

A small studio with a few producers and regular clients.

  • Studio head is the Workspace Owner.
  • Senior producers are Workspace Admins: they oversee all projects and help manage the workspace.
  • Junior producers or engineers are Project Members: invited to the specific projects they work on.
  • Artists or bands reviewing a mix are Project Guests: they can listen and leave feedback but can't manage assets.
  • Label A&R or external stakeholders are External Clients: they get a share link and don't need an account.

Example

A senior producer invites a mastering engineer as a Project Member to upload the final masters. The artist is added as a Project Guest to leave approval notes. The label rep gets a share link.

Recommended plan: PRO

Up to 5 seats covers most small studio setups, with unlimited projects and 100 GB of storage. Share permissions let you tailor what each external client can access.

Agency or Larger Team

A post-production agency working across multiple client projects simultaneously.

  • Agency director is the Workspace Owner.
  • Department leads or account managers are Workspace Admins: they need visibility across all projects.
  • Editors, sound designers, and producers are Project Members: each assigned to the relevant projects.
  • Clients who need to follow progress throughout production are Project Guests: they can check in and leave feedback without the ability to modify assets.
  • One-off reviewers or executives are External Clients: sent a link for a specific review without any account setup.

Example

An account manager oversees ten active projects as Workspace Admin. Each project team consists of Project Members. The end client has a Project Guest seat so they can check in throughout production. The client's CEO gets a share link for the final approval.

Recommended plan: TEAM

Up to 10 seats, 1 TB storage, unlimited projects and assets, plus share expiration dates and password protection for sensitive client deliverables.

Collaborator or Part-Time Contributor

You primarily work within other people's workspaces, or occasionally need to share audio with someone quickly.

  • You join other workspaces as a Project Member or Project Guest: your account is all you need.
  • You have your own workspace for personal use, which you can use to send out share links.

Example

You're a session musician invited as a Project Member to a few studios' workspaces. You upload takes, leave comments, and download files, but the studio owners manage the workspaces and billing.

Recommended plan: STARTER

Free, with enough storage to get started. Also a great way to try Hummify before committing to a paid plan.
