Getting Started with Hummify

This guide walks you through the core workflow, from creating your first project to sharing deliverables with clients.

1. Create a Project

Start by creating a project from your workspace dashboard.

Give your project a name that reflects its purpose: a working title, album name, podcast series, or whatever makes sense for your workflow. You can create as many projects as your plan allows. See Plans for more information.

2. Upload and Organise Your Assets

Once inside a project, upload your assets. Hummify supports files of any type, but audio file uploads feature richer metadata extraction with waveform views.

Asset attachments let you attach related files directly to an asset: stems, session files, PDFs, whatever belongs alongside it. Attachments are easy to download at any time, keeping everything associated with a deliverable in one place.

Version stacks keep your files organised as work evolves. When you upload a new version of a file, you can stack it on top of the previous one. Hummify lets you switch seamlessly between versions without pausing playback, great for quick A/B comparisons.

3. Invite Your Team

Hummify has two levels of team access: workspace-wide and project-specific. For a full breakdown of what each role can do, see User Types.

Inviting a Workspace Admin

To invite workspace admins, click the list of collaborators located in the top right of the dashboard. From there, select Invite Project Members. Enter the person's email address and send the invitation. They'll receive an email with a link to join your workspace. Once accepted, they'll have access to all of your projects.

Inviting a Project Member or Guest

Open a project and click the list of collaborators located in the top right of the screen. Enter the person's email address, choose their role (Member or Guest), and optionally add a message to include in the invitation email. They'll receive a link directly to the project.

  • Members can upload, manage, view, and comment on assets. They consume a seat on your plan.
  • Guests can view and comment only. They do not consume a seat on your plan.

See Plans for a full breakdown of workspace seats.

4. Share with External Clients

For anyone outside your team (e.g. end clients, one-off reviewers, label reps), use share links. Recipients don't need a Hummify account to review your work.

When creating a share, you choose what to include and what permissions to grant. On a Pro plan or above, you can toggle each permission independently:

  • Comments: whether the recipient can leave feedback
  • Downloads: whether the recipient can download the shared files
  • Version history: whether the recipient can view previous versions of an asset

All three are enabled by default. On the Team plan, you can also set:

  • Passphrase protection: require a password to access the share link
  • Expiration date: automatically deactivate the link after a set date

5. Review and Iterate with Waveform Comments

Hummify's audio player supports timestamped comments directly on the waveform. Collaborators can add:

  • Markers: a comment pinned to a single point in time
  • Regions: a comment spanning a range, useful for highlighting a specific section. Create one by dragging on the waveform.

Comments appear on the waveform and in the comment thread.

6. Switching workspaces

To see the workspaces that you are part of, click on your user avatar at the bottom of the side navigation bar. From here, you can switch to a different workspace.
